Coach Rogelio Aragon said “The State 48 FC 2017 White team won the Desert Super Cup Tournament Championship. We showed mental toughness, unity and outstanding will power. Gyzer Aragon was tremendous once again, scoring key goals, defending key plays & and rallying his team to push through every challenge. Diego Nava was excellent as well with his goal scoring precision. Mateo Villafana had a breakout tournament, playing with toughness, intensity & scoring 2 amazing goals in the final. AJ Cordova was our spark who got us going every game with his hustle & determination. Cristian Calderon was unstoppable on the defensive end as we conceded only 3 goals the entire tournament, while also scoring goals of his own. Jhovanny Soledad & Moy Perez were also important contributors to our tournament championship. I am extremely proud of our team for their continued success & hard work. A special shoutout to our wonderful parents for always supporting us through it all!”
The State 48 FC 2015 / 2016 Boys Black (Verrado) team won the Desert Super Cup Tournament Championship as well. Coach Alessio Altomare remarked “I am very proud of the way we competed – the kids showed determination, focus and resilience. We played the championship final against a team who defeated us just a few months ago – we played beautiful soccer and won this great contest 1-0. The team’s continued development across all phases of the game is impressive. The entire group performed very well, and I would like to highlight the exceptional performances of central defender Adrian Leyva, central midfielder Enzo Altomare and striker Kade Brannon.”
The State 48 FC 2010 Girls Black team concluded their season with a dominating 2-1 victory. Coach Liz Perez said “A stellar performance by Tati Ramirez, whose decisive play was the catalyst for both of our goals. Amazing showing from Lyla Perez and Annylyss Rios as well.”
Coach Hector Garcia said “The State 48 FC 2013 Boys Copper team had a great weekend playing the Desert Super Cup Tournament. The team played very well, recording 2 wins and 1 loss against strong competition. fantastic performance by the group in every match.”
Coach Matt Marek said “The State 48 FC 2007 Boys Black team competed in the Desert Super Cup Tournament – we won 2 matches in dominating fashion against good teams, and lost a close match against a top rated opponent to conclude the tournament. I am very proud of every single player – they were all outstanding. We stuck to our system and played well throughout the weekend – great showing by the team.”
Kudos on the academic side go out to State 48 FC 2015 / 2016 Boys Black (Verrado) player Enzo Altomare, who was named the ‘Student of the Month’ at Verrado Elementary School – Enzo also received the ‘Art Award’ as well for his fabulous creativity.
