State 48 FC had a number of teams participating in tournament action this past weekend. The S48 FC 2008 Boys Black (North) team had a strong showing, finishing in 2nd Place in the Gold Bracket of the Desert Classic Tournament. They scored 18 goals and conceded only 3, including impressive 10-0 and 6-0 shutout wins. Over the course of 3 matches, Trevor Scriven and Diego Armetta scored 4 goals each, Aaron Apodaca had 3 goals, Jacob Van Buskirk, Junior de la Rosa and Tavin Tomlinson scored 2 goals apiece while Isaiah Girley scored as well. The fine defensive effort included outstanding performances from Jace Barlow, Trey Gonzalez, Ethan Crabtree, Dominic Bartinelli, Sergio Arpino and GK Joseph Murillo. Austin Scriven, Gavin Volckmann, Nanda Ankem, Kaiden Borunda, Parker Glad and Adithya Asokan also played significant roles with their high level of play during the tournament. The S48 FC (Verrado) 2014 and 2015 teams also played in the Desert Classic tournament, and Director Alessio Altomare was very pleased with the effort and overall performance against strong competition. In league play, the S48 FC 2013 Boys Black team played to a 2-2 draw in an intense, evenly match contest against RSL. Goalkeeper Sebastian Gonzalez had an outstanding performance in the net, recording 15 saves in being named βPlayer of the Matchβ. An extraordinary defensive performance from Khristopher Aragon and Liliana Rivera in the back, combined with excellent midfield control from Alexis Lugo, David Dominguez, Stanley Dovico and Noah Anaya in addition to the fine goals scored by Vincent Calderon and Gavin Comer made it for a highly entertaining contest.
