State 48 FC Weekly Update 10/15

The severe weather that affected almost everyone in the valley did not affect Coach Rogelio Aragon and his teams, who were able to compete and record impressive victories. The State 48 2013 UPSL Sporting FC Academy team had their second match of the season against a tough and very skilled opponent. Coach Rogelio Aragon reported “The game started a bit rough due to the wet field conditions but then evened out. From the start it was a back-and-forth battle with neither team gaining an edge until Ricardo Lemus broke through to open the scoring for a 1-0 lead. Hector Roman then had a breakaway run where he was fouled just outside the box – Abraham Loera stepped up to bury the free kick into the net for 2-0 lead. After that, another breakaway by our striker and another foul outside the box – but this time Khristopher Aragon stepped up to crush the ball into the back of the net for a 3-0 lead; we closed out the game with a 4-0 win. Daniel Gonzalez and Mateo Cisneros did an excellent job pressuring up top, while our midfield was led by Jacob Sahagun, Hector Garcia and William Zaragoza. Goalkeeper Nathan Torres protected our goal with a strong performance while defenders Kovin Munoz, Elias Martinez, Ismael Alcala, Daniel Holmedo and Liliana Rivera helped to preserve the shutout. Extremely proud of our team!”

Coach Rogelio Aragon said “The State 48 FC 2013 Black (Avondale) team opened up the Scottsdale Cup with a great 5-0 win. There was great team chemistry throughout the whole game and our passing game was outstanding. Hector Roman started the scoring with a headed goal from a great cross. Ricardo Lemus followed it up with 2 goals of his own, then Julian Rosales and Khristopher Aragon closed the game out with a goal each. Our midfield of Adrian Guzman and William Zaragoza was very solid in controlling the match. Defensively, no goals were allowed because of the amazing play by Max Lara, Kaze Mazzuca, Daniel Holmeda, Liliana Rivera and Kovin Munoz. It was truly a great performance by the entire team – we are coming together game by game through dedication and hard work.”

The State 48 FC 2017 White (Avondale) team had an extraordinary game in the rain in the Premier Soccer League. We came out like lions from start to finish and had non-stop energy, pressing the opponent all over the field for 40 minutes. We won the game 5-0 with a dominating performance against a tough 2016 team. Gyzer Aragon had 2 great goals, while AJ Cordova followed it up with another 2 goals; Jovani Moreno closed out with a goal of his own. The passing, spacing, vision and communication were truly remarkable. Moy Perez, Johan Gallardo and Aaron Villagomez were excellent on the defensive side of the ball while Kai Gonzalez and Jhovanny Soledad did a good job on the midfield. This was one of the best games of the season – we are looking forward to many more.”

Coach Dante Johnson said “The State 48 FC 2012 Boys Elite team competed this past weekend in the UPSL Academy 2011 age group division. The coaching staff are very proud of the boys, as we were able to come away with a 3–2 win. The UPSL Academy league has been a great introduction to higher level competition for these young lads.”

Our ‘Path To Pro’ program continues to shine as both State 48 Sporting FC I Premier and State 48 Sporting FC II Division I semi-professional teams recorded victories with convincing performances over the weekend by the scores of 4-2 and 2-0 respectively.

Congratulations to all our State 48 FC players and coaches – we are very proud of you!
