State 48 FC Weekly Update – 10/23

The State 48 FC 2015 Copper team participated in the Fiesta Cup Tournament this weekend and brought home the Championship! Coach Moises Perez said “The team showed strength, courage and passion – these kids amaze me in every game! Their love for the game is incredible, and their support for one another is noteworthy. I am very proud of this fantastic group winning another tournament in such impressive fashion!”

The State 48 FC 2007 Boys Black team continue to be top of the table after posting an impressive 5-0 win this weekend, moving their record to 4-0-1 in State League play. The goals were scored by Matthew Adono, Manny Perez and newly appointed captain Sebastian Gutierrez in the dominating victory.

Coach Rogelio Aragon of the State 48 FC 2013 Black team said “We pulled off a gutsy 2-1 win, pushing through tough moments of adversity during the game when things were not going our way. Ricardo Lemus scored 2 fine goals in crucial moments of the game, and Goalkeeper Angel Barajas once again was great in net with some very good saves. Liliana Rivera was the ‘Player of the Match’ with her extraordinary defending, with key slide tackles to prevent counter attacks and help us secure the win. We got the job done and are still undefeated with a 4-0 record in the State League, with a plus 16 goal differential – I am extremely proud of our team for their outstanding effort!”

Coach Liz Perez said “The State 48 FC 2010 Girls Black team had an amazing game! We dominated the entire time and the girls turned in an exceptional performance. Our midfielders and wingers worked well together to drive the ball up the field over and over – a truly outstanding display by this team!”

The State 48 FC 2015 / 2016 Boys Black (Verrado) team played in the Fiesta Cup Tournament, winning three out of the four matches they played. Coach Alessio Altomare said “We posted 3 shutouts and scored 24 goals – Kade Brannon was fantastic, as he scored an amazing 5 goals in one game! Jayden Gonzalez pushed the team forward with leadership and confidence in the middle. Joshua Madrigal was everywhere, showing a high level of technical skills as well as impressive tenacity. Great team effort by Wyatt Bridge, Enzo Altomare, Connor Candelario, Adrian Leyva, Luis Diaz and Jose Flores. Keep up the good work lads!”

The State 48 FC 2011 Boys Black team also played in the Fiesta Cup Tournament. Coach Javier Frausto said “A special congratulations to the boys for their performance at the Fiesta Cup – this team displayed heart and hustle throughout the weekend. Our boys maintained their composure and played hard until the final whistle. The level of character and integrity on this team speaks volumes!”

The State 48 FC 2016 White team won their second match in the AZ Academy League by the score of 3-0. Coach Rodolfo Urquiza said “The team had a great game – all players were firing on all cylinders. Standouts included MJ Gonzales, who was a monster in defense – he was everywhere on the pitch, stopping the opposing team’s attack. Hannah Slate controlled the midfield, pushing our attack forward; this resulted in 2 assists for her. Adam Urquiza got his first hat-trick of the season in an excellent performance. The team is excited and ready for the challenges ahead!”

The State 48 FC 2013 / 2014 Boys (Verrado) team won 6-2 in style this weekend against their rivals. Coach Cisco Flores said “We are currently tied for first place – the team continues to develop. Central midfielder Gavin Michael Hansen had a great game, dominating the midfield with Jael Farfan. Defender Chris Martinez had an outstanding match with his aggressive play along the back line as well. Overall, a great team effort from everyone!”

The State 48 FC 2017 White team recorded two outstanding wins on Saturday by the scores of 9-1 and 5-2. Coach Rogelio Aragon said “We are still undefeated in the Futbolito Bimbo League with a record of 4-0 and a plus 31 goal differential. Gyzer Aragon, Mateo Villafana, Jhovanny Soledad, AJ Cordova, Moy Perez, & Cristian Calderon were all outstanding – what a performance by every single player! I am truly proud of their growth and hard work!

On the Academic side of things, congratulations go out to Gyzer Aragon on becoming Student of the Month – amazing accomplishment Gyzer!
