PHOENIX (Wednesday, Oct. 5, 2022) 

An exciting weekend of soccer for State 48 FC, with many fine performances from a number of our teams. The S48FC ’08 Boys Black (North) team won the Arizona Cup Tournament Championship (Gold Bracket), going undefeated while scoring 16 goals and conceding only 2. They won the championship match by the score of 5-2, with the game winning goal by Aaron Apodaca – Adythia Asokan, Nandeh Ankem and Diego Armetta (2) were among the goal scorers as well. The victory was accentuated by high level performances from every member of the squad, to include the excellent defensive effort led by Jace Barlow, Trey Gonzalez, Sergio Arpino, Dominic Bartinelli and Ethan Crabtree. Goals were also scored over the course of the weekend by Gavin Volckmann, Luke Williams, Parker Glad and Trevor Scriven, who was named the Tournament’s Most Outstanding Player. The S48FC ’08 Boys White team and the S48FC ’07 Boys Black team were very impressive all weekend in the Arizona Cup Tournament as well, with the ’08 Boys White team reaching the finals and the ’07 Boys Black team finishing in 3rd place – excellent results over the course of the three day event. The S48FC ’10 Boys Black team continued their strong start to the league season with two superb victories over the weekend. The S48FC ’16 Boys Black team won their two matches in impressive fashion, winning 4-3 and 17-1. The S48FC ’15 Verrado team recorded an outstanding 6-1 triumph, and the S48FC ’14 Verrado team also recorded noteworthy back-to-back victories by 4-0 and 7-1 score lines.
