State 48 FC Weekly Update – 10/8

The State 48 FC 2013 Boys Copper team had a great game in Flagstaff as they registered an impressive 5-0 victory. Coach Hector Garcia said “The first half was intense – both teams had great shots on goal, but our goalkeeper Nathan Torres was a brick wall in the net! In the second half, the boys turned up the intensity and secured the win with goals from Yaidel Layva and Jackson Diaz, while our right wing Hector Garcia scored a hat trick of goals. The entire team was excellent, and our ‘Player of the Match’ was the outstanding Elias Martinez, who left it all in the field.”

The State 48 FC 2017 White ‘Cyclones’ team played 4 matches over the weekend, emerging with three wins and one draw – their victories included impressive score lines of 11-0, 4-1 and 12-1. Coach Rogelio Aragon said “Gyzer Aragon was unstoppable, while Jhovanny Soledad put tremendous pressure on the opponent’s defense; Diego Nava showed non-stop energy; Mateo Villafana put on a fabulous offensive show; Adan Molina showed great composure and AJ Cordova displayed excellent ball control. I am extremely proud of the new level the team is reaching, day by day and game by game.”

The State 48 FC 2015 / 2016 Boys Black Verrado team had two excellent performances in the ASA Academy League, winning both matches by the scores of 5-0 and 6-2, respectively.
Coach Alessio Altomare said “GK Wyatt Bridge delivered a solid performance, leading a strong defense where Luis Diaz showed leadership and great defensive technique. Enzo Altomare scored a hat trick and Kade Brennon finalized a couple of perfect counter-attacking plays that resulted in beautiful goals. Joshua Madrigal and Connor Candelario were outstanding; Jose Flores was our best dribbler, and Santiago Chavez was our best passer on the day.”

The State 48 FC 2007 Boys Black team continued their undefeated Advanced League campaign this past weekend, winning by the score of 1-0. Coach Matt Marek reported “Matthew Adono scored the game winning goal, while Ferdi Aoci was outstanding throughout the match. Our defense was excellent in the shutout performance as well.”

The State 48 FC 2008 Boys Black (North) team secured another victory in Advanced League play, winning by the score of 7-2. ‘Player of the Match’ Riggs Beck had 2 goals and 1 assist; Tavin Tomlinson also recorded 2 goals and 1 assist; Diego Armetta had 1 goal and 1 assist; Junior de la Rosa and Aaden Encinas added a goal each, while Trevor Scriven and Gavin Volckmann each recorded an assist. Jace Barlow and Dominic Bartinelli led the defensive effort.

The State 48 FC 2015 Copper team played in two ASA Academy League matches on Saturday. They won the first match 2-1 with a fine performance. Coach Moises Perez said “In the second game we were down 2-0 at half time. The team showed courage and passion in coming back to win by the scoreline of 4-3. I’m always proud to see our State 48 FC 2015 Copper team play at their best!”

The State 48 FC 2018 Black (North) team had their first ASA Academy matches, experiencing a win and a loss. Coach Heber Valenzuela said “The team adapted very well to both games and walked away with a lot of positives and fun memories. Outstanding performances by Thiago Ocegueda and Marcos David defensively and offensively. Additional ‘shout outs’ go to Milo Valenzuela, Gunnar Loya, Damien Mendiola and Liam Espinoza for all their great work.”

The State 48 FC 2017 Black team played their opening league matches, winning one and losing one. Coach Irwin Moreno said “After a tough loss to a very good opponent, we bounced back with a resounding 5-1 win in our second match. I am really proud of our group!”

The State 48 FC 2012 Boys White team started their season off with an excellent 5-1 win. Coach Dante Johnson said “I was really impressed with the team’s ability to keep possession and exhaust the opponent. The team was led from the back by Captain Jacob Velasco as he kept the team organized throughout the game, and Sauder Flores led the team in scoring. It was a total team performance that any coach would be proud of!”

The State 48 FC 2016 White team had a good start to their campaign, playing to a draw in a very competitive match. Adam Urquiza scored two goals, one coming from a fine assist by Jacob Munoz. Coach Rodolfo Urquiza said “Viviana Taboada Torres was our ‘Player of the Match’ – she put in a great shift on defense, breaking up key plays from the opposition as well as driving the ball forward to initiate the attack.”

The State 48 FC 2016 Black (Verrado) team kicked the weekend off with a fun team building activity at the Phoenix Rising professional match on Friday evening. Coach James Howard reported “On Saturday we had a great showing in ASA youth league play, losing our first match in a tough 5-4 defeat but then bouncing back with a resounding 8-0 victory in the next match. Samual Lock had a great performance, scoring 5 goals over the course of both matches.”
