Coach Rogelio Aragon said “The State 48 FC 2017 Boys White team had a tough battle in the AZ Academy League Final. It was a physical, fast-paced match until the very end. We came out victorious with a 3-1 win to be crowned Champions! Gyzer Aragon was the ‘Player of the Match’ and was extraordinary! He did it all, scoring goals as well as defending key plays with his nonstop hustle & determination! Cristian Calderon and Diego Nava also had amazing performances while scoring a goal each. I am very proud of our team for their tenacity, toughness & hard work – it was a complete team effort!
Coach Ivan Moreno reported that “The State 48 FC 2016 Black team had their AZ Academy League Championship match on Friday night. We went undefeated in league play and came away with a 4-0 win in the Championship game! Our goalkeeper Adriel Alcala had an outstanding performance in goal – great effort overall from the entire team to secure the Championship!”
The State 48 FC 2008 Boys Black (North) team competed in the elite Arizona Select Clubs Showcase Tournament, which featured some of the region’s top teams. This excellent squad took 3rd place, with their only defeat coming at the hands of the eventual tournament champions. Aaden Encinas and Junior De La Rosa scored 2 goals each, with Riggs Beck scoring 1 goal and Tavin Tomlinson scoring the dramatic game winning goal with under a minute left in the final match of the tournament. The very impressive Tomlinson also recorded 3 assists, with Riggs Beck, Gavin Volckmann and Diego Armetta adding assists as well. Tremendous performances from standout players (and team captains) Jace Barlow, Trevor Scriven and Moses Baca highlighted the team’s fine effort.
The State 48 FC 2007 / 2008 Girls (Verrado) team took 2nd Place in the Kick For The Cure Tournament this past weekend. Coach Franciso Martinez said “Tremendous effort from our entire team – a truly outstanding group of girls. I am very proud of them!”
Coach Hector Roman said “The State 48 FC 2016 Grey team entered their first tournament and did very well – we were 1 goal shy of reaching the finals. Gabriel Roman stepped up for the team, scoring a double hat-trick and tallying 8 goals altogether in the tournament.”
The State 48 FC 2015 Copper team won their match 3-1 in a very competitive contest. Coach Moises Perez said “Mateo Girón scored 2 goals, with Kevin Solis providing 2 assists in addition to scoring the 3rd goal of the night. Our excellent goalkeeper Rigo Garcia saved a penalty kick at the end of the game as well – the kids worked hard and did a great job!”
The State 48 FC 2017 Black team played in the Kick For The Cure Tournament. Coach Irwin Moreno said “We played two tough games in the Gold bracket, emerging with a win (by the score of 9-2) and a draw. The whole team was very impressive and worked hard in every match!”
Coach Alex Aguilar said “The State 48 FC 2014 Boys Black team won 3-1 against a previously undefeated opponent. We were focused and determined – the boys played some amazing soccer, working as a team to come on top and completely outplaying the opposing team.”
Coach Rogelio Aragon reported that “The State 48 FC 2013 Black team had an outstanding finish to the league season! We played very well against a tenacious pre-academy opponent, where we battled back from 2-0 down to tie the match 3-3. With this result, we went undefeated in the league and took 1st place, conceding only 6 goals in 7 games with +11 goal differential. Outstanding performance from Ricardo Lemus, who scored 2 very important goals and applied offensive pressure throughout the match. Nathaniel Zavala was excellent as well, scoring a crucial goal from a corner kick to tie the game up. Shoutout to our goalkeeper Lazaro Reyes who had some important saves during the game. I am extremely proud of our team for pulling through the moments of struggle and adversity – they worked hard and pushed through it all. These are the types of matches that help us build character and give us an identity as a team. A huge ‘Thank You’ as well to our wonderful parents for their unconditional support and trusting what we do.”
The State 48 FC 2015 / 2016 Boys Black (Verrado) team played in the Silver bracket of the Kick For The Cure Tournament. Coach Enzo Altomare said “I am very proud of the way the team competed. ‘Goal of the Week’ for Enzo Altomare with a beautiful left footed free kick!”
