The State 48 FC 2015 / 2016 Boys Black (Verrado) team Verrado competed in the top bracket of the Inferno Cup tournament. Coach Alessio Altomare “We played against strong competition and won the Tournament Championship – this is the 5th Championship of the season for these boys! Wyatt Bridge was our captain, leading the defense with confidence and making some key saves in every game. Luis Diaz, Adrian Leyva and Enzo Altomare (who scored a beautiful goal by dribbling past three defenders from the half-way line) built a wall, conceding only three goals all tournament long. Joshua Madrigal’s ball winning and field vision were excellent, while Kade Brannon and Sergio Villa were both devastating on the forward line. Jose Flores, Thiago Espinoza and Bennett Crawford gave us solid alternative options to keep executing our game plan. I am very proud of the maturity, technical & tactical execution and the resilient physical preparation of each player – outstanding performance by the entire group.”
Coach Francisco Martinez said “The State 48 FC 2006 Girls Black (Verrado) team competed in the prestigious Players Showcase Tournament in Las Vegas. Great performance this weekend, finishing undefeated. The team won 3 games and tied 1, finishing #1 in our bracket. Goalkeeper Aydelin Morales allowed only 2 goals in the tournament, leading us with her outstanding play. Defenders Allison Rospierski and Nadynne Rivera were unstoppable in the back as they prevented the opponents from creating many chances. In the midfield, Damaris Samora and Yoselin Martinez scored important goals in addition to recovering many balls and connecting well with our forward line. Selene Martinez led the team with her great attitude, motivating her teammates and adding an important goal to help us secure the top spot in the tournament.”
The State 48 FC 2016 Gold team played in the Inferno Cup Tournament this past weekend. Coaches Guillermo Armenta and Jake Bolanos were full of effusive praise for the entire group as they won the Tournament Championship. “The team showed their quality in defeating some very good teams – they hustled, fought and competed at a very high level. Our goal scorers were Akai Lim, Charles Ayomanor, Guillermo Armenta, Max Tovar, Marcos Sanchez, Hollis Humphries and Isaac Lopez – we got great contributions from everyone. Awesome job team!”
The State 48 FC 2013 Boys Copper team played the Inferno Cup Tournament in the top bracket. Coach Hector Garcia said “We dominated every game, to include the championship final, winning 6-1. I am very proud of the entire team for their excellent performance in winning the Tournament Championship!”
Coach Victoria Maans said “The State 48 FC 2010 Boys (El Mirage) team continued their winning streak, concluding the re-scheduled league match with a win. Juan Maans opened the scoring with an impressive strike from beyond 30 yards. Abel Thomas scored on an excellent counter attack, then continued his strong play with a great through ball for Roberto (Chino) Garcia to score. We finished the match in fine form as Diego (Gio) Campos scored twice, with both assists coming from Sean (SJ) Venesky. Accolades for goalkeeper Nolan Steele who had some amazing saves – a tremendous performance by the team.”
Coach Rudy Urquiza reported “The State 48 FC 2016 White team played to an exciting 4-4 draw. Adam Urquiza continued his scoring onslaught as he recorded another hat-trick. ‘Player of the Match’ honors went to Eliza Orozco, who has really stepped up in her central midfield role. She fought hard to win the ball all game long for her team against bigger and stronger opposition. The exciting contest went down to the wire as Adam Urquiza played a corner kick onto the second post, which Efrain Morales put back in the mixer. The ball popped out to the edge of the box and MJ Gonzales struck the ball into the net as the match ended in a tie.
