The State 48 FC 2014 (Verrado) Boys Black team had a good outing on Saturday at the 3v3 Arizona Challenge tournament – they entered two teams and faced excellent competition in each bracket. Although neither team made it to the finals, there were some noteworthy performances and victories. Marcelo Nageia and Zayden Fultz raised their performance and hustle to a level not previously seen before, with very good goals from David Black, Rapha Reyes and Demetri Burns throughout the tournament. Davian Jauregui displayed impressive offensive talent and scored some fine goals as well. A dominating performance for the State 48 FC 2013 Black team at the Spring Fling Tournament, going undefeated with a +12 goal differential. Truly amazing to see the teamwork and toughness exhibited by this great group of players that have become a family. Enzo Villafana, Gavin Comer, Stanley Dovico, Alexis Lugo, Adrian Guzman, Donovan Siercke, & Vincent Calderon were the contributors for the goal scoring, which were scored from every angle of the field in outstanding fashion. Khristopher Aragon had some great assists along with great defending, while Liliana Ocampo & Vincent locked it down on the defensive end as well. Adrian Guzman, Stanley, Gavin, Donovan & Alexis were truly impressive in controlling the midfield, while Sebastian Gonzalez had some extraordinary saves game after game. Coach Rogelio Aragon stated: “Our dedication, hard work, and teamwork is what we have truly embraced as not only a team but as a family!! Thank you to our coaches, our team manager and our families for making this possible!” The State 48 FC 2008 Boys Black (North) concluded their outstanding season with a 2nd Place finish at the ASA President’s Cup. The team won a tense, hard fought match on Friday night in the semi-final round in dramatic fashion. The match was tied 1-1 after full time and two additional 15 minute overtime periods before going to penalty kicks, where the lads kept their composure and won the exciting shootout, sending them to the Championship match on Saturday. The team gave an excellent effort but came up short against high caliber opposition in the finals – they represented themselves, their families and the entire State 48 FC organization with class. dignity and sportsmanship, something that was remarked on by many officials in attendance. These players have performed at a consistently high level all season long, winning two tournaments and being finalists in two more. The league season was a great success as well, and the future for this team is bright indeed! We are all very proud of these wonderful young men and their families! This weekend was the last one for the State 48 FF 2008 Boys Black team, who were competing in the ASA State Cup. Needing a victory against the top rated team on Saturday, the team suffered an unfortunate defeat. Although they lost, the team looked to solidify a 3rd place position on Sunday. S48 FC scored two early goals in the first half – a corner kick goal from Elias Curiel and a breakaway goal from Kamil Bednarz. AYSO were able to score a goal but the 2007’s defense was too strong to allow any more. The game ended 2-1 with the 2007’s heading to the Championship match this Saturday, May 29th at 8:15 am, Reach 11, Field #3. The winner of this game goes to the Regional Championship in Idaho over the summer. We welcome the support from all of our State 48 FC teams and families if they are able to attend the championship match!
