State 48 FC Weekly Update- 4/5

The S48 FC 2008 Boys Black (North) began play in the Arizona President’s Cup this past weekend with a convincing 5-0 victory. The opening goal was scored by Luke Williams, who dribbled past two defenders and hit a thunderbolt into the upper right corner of the net. Junior de la Rosa then added another goal with an excellent long range strike to make it 2-0. Trevor Scriven, Diego Armetta and Junior de la Rosa scored the next three goals to seal the emphatic win. The team dominated possession throughout the match, and turned in an outstanding defensive performance that was led by Jace Barlow, Trey Gonzalez, Ethan Crabtree, Dominic Bartinelli, Sergio Arpino and goalkeeper Joseph Reina. The S48 2015 / 2016 Verrado Boys Black team had an excellent performance in the Brazas Tournament. Playing in the Gold bracket, the team won their first two matches by a combined score of 19 goals for and only 1 against. They made it to the championship match before losing 8-7 in a tight contest. Coach Alessio Altomare remarked that the team played beautiful soccer and exhibited great character in the final. The ‘Player of the Match’ went to both Enzo Altomare and Luis Diaz for their high level of play. The S48 2015 / 2016 Verrado White team also took part in the Brazas tournament, with Coach Jake Bolanos stating that the team played very well in every match, and that each player had made great strides with their progress and development. Barrett O’Neil scored two goals, and the ‘Player of the Tournament’ award was given to Laila Black, Jacob Bolanos and Parker Yenkin for their non-stop activity and excellent attitude. Coach Rogelio Aragon reported that his S48 FC 2013 Boys Black team had their first 9v9 friendly match and acquitted themselves very well against strong opposition – the learning experience was positive and the team had some excellent moments, especially with their spacing, passing and creation of good finishing opportunities. Congratulations to all of our S48 FC teams for their tremendous efforts this weekend!
