The State 48 FC 2016 Boys Copper team went to Tucson for the CDO Challenge Cup tournament. Coach Chris Chavez said “The team played some outstanding soccer as we won the tournament Championship! Ten of the eleven boys scored a goal (including the two goalkeepers). It was extra special for me as a coach because 11 years ago to the date I won the same tournament with my oldest daughter. Overall, it was a great way to finish the season – I am looking forward to the upcoming season and the continued development of these boys.”
The State 48 FC 2013 Black team had a dominating win in the ASU Friday League. Coach Rogelio Aragon said “There was great communication, outstanding passing and exceptional finishing with 4 different players scoring. Notable performances by Ricardo Lemus, who put on non-stop pressure from beginning to end. Carlos Medina had a stellar performance in goal with his outstanding presence, and Angel Barajas defended very well throughout the match. Vincent Calderon had some dangerous counter attacking plays during the game, while Adrian Guzman recovered a lot of balls for us in the midfield and distributed the ball very well. Alex Trejo created excellent opportunities for us with his hustle and field awareness. Great overall showing by the team!”
Coach Moises Perez said “The State 48 FC 2015 Copper team played in the semi-finals of the Arizona Academy League. We took a 2-0 lead with some excellent passing and combination play. Our opponent fought back to tie the match at 2-2, but we were resilient and scored the game winning goal in the final minutes to seal the victory! The entire team was excellent, and our ‘Player of the Match’ award goes to Alexander Nava, who scored an amazing hat trick of goals!”
Coach Rogelio Aragon said “The State 48 FC 2017 White team had an extremely physical and intense game in the FBSL on Saturday. We came out with energy and raced out to an early 5-1 lead in the 1st half. In the 2nd half, some costly defensive lapses allowed our opponent to come back to tie the match at 5-5. In the final moments of the thrilling game, Diego Nava scored a last minute goal (and getting his hat trick in the process) to seal the 6-5 win! Jhovanny Soledad was extraordinary with his outstanding defensive pressure, which led to 2 goals. Gyzer Aragon was exceptional with his energy and hustle, doing anything his team needed to succeed. It was a true test of fortitude & growth – tremendous game from the group!”
Congratulations to all our State 48 FC players and coaches – we are very proud of you!
