The State 48 FC 2010 Boys Black (El Mirage) team kicked off their first ever President’s Cup run with a thrilling 1-0 victory. Coach Sean Venesky said “we set the tone with grit, intensity and heart from the opening whistle. Every player stepped up – fighting for every ball, communicating as a unit, and applying relentless pressure. With 15 seconds left on the clock, Sebastian Cano launched a deep throw down the line. Daniel Aceves outmuscled his defender and whipped in a perfect low driven cross, where Jason Golley buried the game-winner in dramatic fashion as time expired!” Assistant Coach Victoria Maans added “A massive shoutout to our goalkeeper, Nolan Steele, who came up huge with clutch saves that kept the dream alive. What a way to start the tournament!”
The State 48 FC 2006 Boys Black team and the State 48 FC 2007 Boys Black team faced each other in the oldest age bracket in the President’s Cup. In a very exciting match, the teams drew 0-0 with both teams having opportunities. 2007 Boys Black Coach Matt Marek said “The 2007’s played tough and disciplined defense the entire game – kudos to the back line. The 2006’s had great possession and movement off the ball. The soccer from both sides looked great!”
Coach Irwin Moreno said “The State 48 FC 2017 Black team had a great showing, placing 2nd at Rivalries Cup this past weekend. While playing up in the 2016 division, they showed great composure, hunger and will to fight against any opponent – I am very proud of the team’s performance!”
Coach Rogelio Aragon said “The State 48 FC 2017 White team had a dominating performance in the Futbolito Bimbo League on Saturday – we are still undefeated after seven games played. They demonstrated strong team defense, great give & go passing connections and outstanding finishing. We had four different players get on the scoresheet: Diego Nava with 3 goals; Gyzer Aragon with 2 goals & 2 assists; Jhovanny Soledad with 2 goals and Kai Gonzalez with 1 goal. I am extremely proud of their dedication and hard work!”
State 48 FC 2010 Girls Black team coach Liz Perez reports “The girls are playing faster and smarter, stopping and delaying the opposition. I have had multiple coaches and parents compliment the girls for their continued improvement. Dominating performances by defenders Erika Salazar, Chloe Echeveria and some amazing saves by our goalkeeper Aurora Adams. Exceptional efforts from Jiji Hoye, Lyla Perez and Ailynn Salazar as well.”
The State 48 FC 2013 Black team 13 Black was victorious in a tightly contested 1-0 match this weekend. Coach Rogelio Aragon said “It was an intense, fast paced, back and forth game. The defensive presence was great, especially denying passing lanes and counter attacking with effectiveness. Our passing was exceptional, with great combination play that led to many opportunities on goal. Liliana Rivera was unstoppable on the defensive end, while Alex Trejo was instrumental throughout the contest. The match winning goal came from an excellent finish by Ricardo Lemus off a fine assist from Khristopher Aragon. I am really proud of the way we played and the tremendous contributions from every single player.”Congratulations to all our State 48 FC players and coaches – we are very proud of you!
