State 48 FC Weekly Update – Week 4

We will start off the State 48 FC ‘Weekly Update’ with our congratulations to our fantastic State 48 / Sporting FC Premier and D1 teams, who both finished their respective UPSL seasons by playing for the championship in their divisions. The D1 team won the UPSL Championship 2-0 in impressive fashion, winning on the road in Tucson. This caps off an outstanding season for Coach Luciano Mesaros and his excellent team, who lifted the Championship trophy with an unforgettable performance. The Premier team also played on the road, losing in a dramatic penalty kick shootout after playing to a 2-2 draw in regulation and through overtime. Coach Kevin Mearse and his tremendous team were also outstanding, competing at the highest level in the UPSL all season. These magnificent performances reflect the high standard that State 48 FC has established – the entire club salutes these players and coaches for their achievements!

Coach Cisco Flores said “The State 48 FC 2013 Boys Black (Verrado) team won the TFC Winter Festival Tournament Championship! We earned a spot in the final with 2 wins and a draw with some excellent play. We were focused and ready for the Championship match and did not disappoint, winning in emphatic fashion by the scoreline of 4-1 in front of a big crowd. Our potent attack was led by Julian Rosales, who scored 3 goals and Anthony Gomez Oblea, who scored as well. Our MVP of the tournament goes to Anthony Flores who was outstanding all weekend while scoring 4 goals of his own. I am very proud of the boys for finding a way to push through adversity and emerge victorious – what a way to end the first part of the year! Coach is proud!”

Coach Hector Garcia said “The State 48 FC 2013 Boys Copper (Avondale) team played in the TFC Winter Festival Tournament this past weekend and came away with the tournament Championship! We played against strong competition in every match – the team showed composure, discipline and focus, winning the Championship with a hard fought 1–0 victory. Our MVP of the tournament was the impressive Mateo Cisneros, who recorded 5 goals and 1 assist (Mateo was involved in every single goal scored in the tournament). I am very proud of this group, who also secured 1st Place in ASA League play for the season.”

Coach Jake Bolanos said “The State 48 FC 2015 Black (Buckeye) team participated in the RSL Holiday Classic Tournament. We dominated our bracket and made it to the finals, where we fell just short in the championship match. Very impressive showing from the team, with notable performances by team Captain Sebastian Luna leading the team with his great play; Ryan Boare scoring 9 goals; Kevin Solis scoring 3 goals and goalkeeper Jacob Bolanos, who was outstanding in the net.”

Coach Celia Rascon said “The State 48 FC 2013 / 2014 Girls Black (Avondale) team competed in the TFC Winter Festival Tournament and finished as runners up in the championship match. The girls came out strong all weekend, showing discipline, working together as a unit and putting a total of 11 goals into the back of the net throughout the tournament. While the final result wasn’t the outcome we hoped for, it was the experience we needed. We will take what we learned, return home ready to work hard and come back even stronger to fight for another opportunity at a championship title!”

Coach Rogelio Aragon said “The State 48 FC 2017 White (Avondale) team had an excellent performance in the AZ Academy League, winning 8-0 in dominant fashion. We showed outstanding passing, scanning, communication and impressive finishing. Notable performances from Jovani Moreno (3 goals); Jhovanny Soledad (3 goals); Gyzer Aragon (2 goals); Nathan Palafox-Nagy (2 goals) and Ezra Sanchez (1 goal). Great work team!”

Coach Alessio Altomare said “The State 48 FC 2015 Elite team played in the top bracket of the RSL Holiday Classic Tournament. We recorded two wins playing against high level competition – extremely proud of all our players for a great first half of the season. I would like to recognize our three team captains, Emiliano Martinez, Jacob Gutierrez and Juan Chavez for their leadership and great performances all season long. Tournament MVP Luis Diaz scored a fantastic free kick and dominated defensively all weekend”.

Coach Moises Perez said “The State 48 FC 2015 Boys Copper team took 1st Place in our division in the Arizona Open League. The competition was close all season long, coming down to the wire between three good teams. Only the final scores on the last day could determine who would come out on top – and our team got it done! This team showed passion and heart in every single game by helping and encouraging each other through all the tough situations they encountered – I am so proud of this group of kids!”

The State 48 FC 2012 Boys Elite (Avondale) team finished as runners up in the TFC Winter Festival Tournament. The outstanding performance of the weekend goes to Ayden Puente, who scored an amazing 6 goals in one game that put the team into the championship final – great job Ayden!

Congratulations to all our State 48 FC players and coaches – we are very proud of you! One Family, One Mission!
