The kids performed very well, playing hard every match and beating every single team in their category. Coach Rogelio Aragon said “The State 48 FC 2013 Black (Avondale) team had an excellent performance in Tucson in their third Open League match. We got on the scoreboard in the last 5 minutes of the first half as Khristopher Aragon delivered a great corner kick for Ricardo Lemus to finish. Our defense was truly impressive, led by Liliana Rivera, Daniel Olmedo, Kovin Munoz, Julian Rosales and Carlos Medina. They locked it down and kept a shutout enroute to a dominating 3-0 victory!”
Coach Irwin Moreno said “The State 48 FC 2017 Black (Avondale) team had an outstanding performance on Friday night; hat tricks from Bennett Craig and Sebastian Tounzit, 2 goals by Emilio Flores and 1 goal by Ethan Villegas helped seal the 9-2 victory. Our defense was also outstanding with relentless effort, and the ball movement that the whole team displayed was great to watch. Very proud of this group!”
Coach Rudy Urquiza said “The State 48 FC 2016 White (Avondale) team played two matches over the weekend. Our first game came down to the wire – it was a great back and forth contest that ended 4-4. In our second game, we took it to another level in a resounding 6-0 win. We continue to develop technically as well as mentally every week. I love the attitude displayed by our team – hearing these kids talk to each other about not giving up makes me very proud.”
Coach Brian Craig said “The State 48 FC 2013 / 2014 Girls Black (Verrado) team keeps rolling. The ladies cruised to a 3-1 victory, remaining undefeated in the second part of the year. Falling behind 0-1 in the first half, the girls rallied with patience and toughness – they showed precision and creativity in the attack as well as being solid defensively. Standout performance from London Ornelas playing both wingback and center back at times; she defined the unflagging commitment to pressuring the ball early and with intention, often stopping the attack well outside the defending third. Great overall performance by the entire team!”
Coach Celia Rascon said “The State 48 FC 2013 / 2014 Girls Black (Avondale) team had their first home match of the season, taking the 4-2 win in impressive fashion. Sofía Tena scored a hat trick and Elsie Rascon added another from a corner kick. Our goalkeeper Amiya Douglas had some amazing saves and key interventions to preserve the victory as well. Great job ladies!”
Coach Rogelio Aragon said “The State 48 FC 2017 White (Avondale) team had a strong Arizona Academy League match Academy game over the weekend – it was a tough, back and forth, physical battle from beginning to end. Playing a year up in category, we did not get the victory but displayed plenty of grit, effort and resilience. I am proud of our team for always pushing through it all and never backing down from a challenge. Looking forward to many more battles like this!”
