PHOENIX (Tuesday, September 20, 2022) 

The State 48 FC ’08 Boys Black (North) team opened their league season with a hard fought 2-1 victory over a competitive Dorados ’08 Boys team. The S48 team, who compete in Open League Division 1, played very well throughout the competitive match, with central midfielder Trevor Scriven scoring 2 goals in the impressive victory. Trevor almost had a hat trick, dribbling skillfully past 5 opponents in succession, only to have his shot tipped around the goal post by an excellent save by the Dorados goalkeeper. The outstanding defensive effort, led by Jace Barlow and Trey Gonzalez, was strong throughout the match, controlling the defensive third with a number of excellent tackles and interceptions. Wingers Gavin Volkmann and Diego Armetta also turned in fine performances, beating defenders all match long and providing excellent service from the flanks.
