State 48 FC teams were in action this weekend in both tournament and league play. The S48 FC 2016 Boys traveled to Tucson for the Ft. Lowell Shootout. Playing in the advanced level Gold bracket, they won the Tournament Championship in impressive fashion against teams from Texas, New Mexico and Arizona. Coach Rosie Mendez was impressed by how hard every single player on the team worked and battled fiercely in taking home first place. The team also competed in the Soccer Olympics Challenge while in Tucson and took 2nd place – amazing performance and great job this weekend! In league play, the S48 FC 2012 Boys earned a hard fought 3-1 victory over Tigres, with Axel Almonte scoring 2 goals and Gael Benitez finishing a brilliant counter attack at the end to seal the victory. For the S48 FC 2010 Boys, Reed Mueller scored his first goal of the season, while Logan Christensen assisted on Reed’s goal and also scored a penalty kick. In the CCV Champions Cup Tournament, there were some high scoring affairs as the S48 FC (Verrado) 2014 Boys recorded an eye opening 13-0 victory and the S48 FC (Verrado) 2015 Boys won 7-0.
