State 48 FC had a number of teams in action this weekend. In a league match, the S48 FC ’07 Boys Black team turned in a strong performance, winning 4-0 in impressive fashion. The coaching staff were especially pleased with the performances of Anthony Godoy, Amir Aragon and Reagan Mueller, with a tremendous defensive effort from Rafael Castanon. In another league match, the S48 FC Boys Black (North) team were victorious as well by a 1-0 scoreline. The overall performance was quite good in terms of the build-up, possession, progression into the final third and number of excellent chances created. The defense was outstanding, led by Jace Barlow, Trey Gonzalez, Ethan Crabtree, Sergio Arpino, Dominic Bartinelli, Adithya Asokan and Austin Scriven minding the net in the shutout win. The coaching staff for the S48 FC 2013 Boys Black team were very complimentary of the team’s overall growth in recent matches, stating that the precision passing and ball possession have reached higher levels of proficiency. We are also proud to recognize Axel Cantu, one of the players for the S48 FC 2014 Boys Black team. Axel, who also plays American football, was selected to represent Arizona in the Southwest Showcase in El Paso, Texas, where he played defensive end, tight end and was also the teams kicker. Axel and his team played against some strong regional competition and won the championship – congratulations to Axel and his teammates for this tremendous accomplishment!
