State 48 FC Weekly Update – 10/18

Many State 48 FC teams were involved in tournament play this weekend. Three of our teams, the S48 FC 2005-2006 Boys Black team, the S48 FC 2007 Boys Black team and the S48 FC 2014 Boys Black team were all Finalists in tournament competition. Coach Matt Marek of the S48 2007 Boys Black team felt that the team performed better and better with each match played, with the midfield play outstanding in every game, led by Josh Jones, Cameron Schmidt and Sebastian Gutierrez. Strikers Elias Curiel and Nathan Corrubias were also instrumental and scored some great goals in leading the team to the final of the Ahwatukee Classic Soccer Tournament. The S48 FC 2005-2006 Boys Black team also were finalists in the Ahwatukee Classic, losing out on penalty kicks in a tense shootout. Coach Enrique Nava felt that the team controlled the final match for long stretches and played with excellent technical quality and creativity, and singled out defender Pedro Morquecho, wing midfielder Jesus Valenzuela and central midfielder Ruben Torres for their excellent play. The S48 2014 Boys Black team competed in the Futuro Insurance Cup Tournament and also reached the finals – Coach Alex Aguilar mentioned that Khristopher Aragon, Antonio Gil, Jayden Gonzalez and Daniel Stangle played important roles in the team’s strong performance. The S48 2016 (Verrado) team played in three matches, winning two (11-3 & 5-2) and losing one (3-4); Coach Saul Bolanos said that the team was awesome! Performance of the week goes to the outstanding Kaiden Adams, who scored 15 of the team’s 18 goals – amazing job Kaiden! Coach Rogelio Aragon reported that he was very proud of the S48 2013 Black team, who performed at a high level in all three matches they played. β€œThe team played with energy and heart, displaying precise passing, great spacing on the field and excellent pressing of the opposition” said Coach Rogelio, who mentioned that Sebastian Gutierrez, Carlos Medina and Angel Barajas were fantastic in every match. The S48 2007 Boys White team played very well despite suffering their first loss of the league season by a scoreline of 1-2 in a game that Coach Ray Chaparro felt that his team dominated. Andy Guerra scored a fine goal that was assisted by Angel Pacheco in their close match. For outstanding achievement in academics, S48 FC would like to recognize Khristopher Aragon for receiving the β€˜Principals Pride’ Award (straight A’s for the quarter) – great job Khristopher – very impressive! Congratulations and well done to all of our State 48 FC coaches and teams for their efforts!
