State 48 FC teams were competing in the Desert Super Cup Tournament this past weekend. The impressive S48 FC 2013 Black team finished in 2nd place in the competition, with Coach Rogelio Aragon remarking that it was βa truly outstanding, enjoyable performance from the entire teamβ throughout the tournament. Enzo Villafana led the potent attack with 3 goals, while Khristopher Aragon, Ayden Gomez, and Alexis Lugo had a goal each. Defender Liliana Rivera was tremendous in the back while goalkeeper Carlos Medina was extraordinary in the net, recording a number of key saves. Coach Franciso Martinez and the S48 FC 2006 Girls Black (Verrado) team had a strong showing in the Desert Super Cup tournament as well. The team played excellent soccer throughout the course of the weekend and just missed playing in the final. Selene Martinez (2 goals, 3 assists) and Sabella Vargas (2 goals) led the attack, while outstanding central defender Allison Rospierski led the defensive effort – the team is now ranked in the top 10 in the state! The S48 FC 2015 / 2016 Boys Black (Verrado) team, coached by Alessio Altomare and Peter Larkin-Gero, also played extremely well in the Desert Super Cup. The fine defensive effort was highlighted by the performance of Dominic Johnson, while striker Enzo Altomare led the team in scoring. Congratulations to all of our State 48 FC coaches and teams for their efforts!
