The State 48 FC 2015 Boys White (Verrado) team were Champions of the Arizona Cup tournament this past weekend. Coach Saul Bolanos highlighted the performances of Kaiden Adams, who was dominant throughout the match, to include a last minute breakaway goal that sealed the victory. Sebastian Luna was amazing on defense, and goalkeeper James Kenney made a number of critical saves as they won the title.
The State 48 FC 2013 / 2014 Boys Black (Verrado) team won the Arizona Cup tournament championship as well. Coach Cisco Flores said that his entire team was outstanding in securing the 1st Place trophy, winning every match. He singled out the strong performances of goalkeeper Ricardo Ramirez, defender Nicolas Vega and midfielder Jael Farfan, while strikers Carlos Abarca, Adrian Solorzano and Hector Garcia (who scored the game winning goal in the championship match) were also excellent.
The State 48 FC 2013 Boys White team were also victorious in the Arizona Cup tournament, securing the championship with their tremendous play throughout the weekend. Coach Eddie Vasquez reported that the team, who played up a year in the 2012 Gold bracket, did an amazing job in all facets of the game.
The State 48 FC 2008 Boys Black (North) team continued their excellent run, winning their Advanced League match in dramatic fashion. After going behind in the game, Riggs Beck scored a fine equalizing goal to level the match at 1-1. The team continued to apply tremendous pressure, and, with two minutes remaining, Aaden Encinas played a clever pass to central midfielder Gavin Volckmann, who unleashed a thunderbolt from 30 yards out to score the game winning goal for the 2-1 victory. The outstanding defensive effort was led by Jace Barlow, Moses Baca, Dominic Bartinelli, Billy Denman and goalkeeper Joseph Murillo.
The State 48 FC 2007 Boys Black team won their Advanced League match as well by the score of 5-2 as they continue to sit atop the standings in 1st place. The goals were scored by Ferdi Aoci, Matthew Adono, DJ White and Manny Perez (who has impressively scored a goal in every match this season thus far).
The State 48 FC 2015 / 2016 Black (Verrado) team were Finalists in the Derby Tournament this weekend. This superb team has been a Finalist in the last three tournaments they have played in. Coach Alessio Altomare said “the ‘Player of the Tournament’ award went to Adrian Leyva, who is a fighter who has a beautiful touch; he scores goals and provides assists as well. Joshua Madrigal was excellent in the playmaker role while Kade Brannon scored in every match.”
The State 48 FC 2013 Black team won their tough league match by the score of 2-0; this formidable group is undefeated in league play. Coach Rogelio Aragon reports that the team has posted three consecutive shutouts, with the outstanding defensive effort led by goalkeeper Angel Barajas and defenders Carlos Medina, Vincent Calderon, Liliana Rivera & Gustavo De La Torre. Ricardo Lemus and Alex Trejo scored 1 goal each, while Nathaniel Zavala and Adrian Guzman did a fantastic job controlling the midfield. Stanley DoVico, Khristopher Aragon and Donovan Siercke were also very effective throughout the match.
The State 48 FC 2012 Boys Black (South) team won their league match 7-6 in one of the most exciting matches of the year so far. ‘Player of the Match’ Jacob Gonzalez scored an incredible 4 goals, while Ricky de la Rosa added 3 goals as well. Ayden Puente and Stryker Johnson each had three assists in the impressive comeback victory.
Coach Ivan Moreno reports that the State 48 FC 2015 Girls Black team took 2nd Place in the Arizona Cup tournament. Coach Ivan said “I am really proud of the work the girls have put in – they did a wonderful job playing in their very first tournament!”
