Coach Moises Perez said “The State 48 FC 2015 Copper (Avondale) team won ‘The Derby’ Tournament Championship this past weekend. The team showed unity and fought hard every single game; the defense, midfield and attack put in extraordinary work. All of our players were excellent – but our MVP was goalkeeper Rigoberto Garcia, who showed that he is ready for anything! I am very proud of this team!”
Coach Hector Garcia said “The State 48 FC 2103 Boys Copper (Avondale) won ‘The Derby’ Tournament Championship in dominating fashion, winning by the scores of 3-0, 3-0 & 6-0. The boys performance was amazing this weekend – team Captain Ismael Alcala was our MVP, leading the defense with no goals allowed with his stellar play. Great work boys!”
State 48 FC 2010 Boys (El Mirage) coach Sean Venesky said “We kicked off our UPSL season in electrifying fashion this weekend! From the opening whistle, the boys set the tone with relentless intensity, sharp focus and seamless teamwork that overwhelmed their opponents – the result was a commanding 10–0 victory, with goals spread across nine different players – showcasing the depth and firepower of the team. Daniel Aceves opened the scoring before Roberto Garcia, Santiago Gonzalez, Abel Thomas, Juan Maans, Diego Rodriguez and Sebastian Cano each added to the tally. Dominic Hamilton netted a brace, while Mark Felix capped off the scoring spree. On the defensive end, Nolan Steele kept a clean sheet with some key stops, and Brandon Casillas came on to preserve it after the goalkeeper switch – securing the shutout for the squad. It was a statement win, fueled by unity, precision and hunger, leaving no doubt that we are here to make waves in the UPSL.”
The State 48 FC 2016 Boys Copper (Avondale) team competed in the ‘The Derby’ Tournament this past weekend. Coach Chris Chavez said “We delivered strong performances to open the tournament with two consecutive victories. Heading into Sunday, the team needed either a win or a 3-3 draw to advance to the championship match. Despite a hard fought effort, we narrowly missed that objective, bringing an end to an impressive ten game unbeaten streak. While the result did not go our way, it presents a valuable opportunity for reflection and growth. Often, the most meaningful development – both individually and collectively – comes through adversity. As coaches, our role extends beyond teaching the game of soccer; we also aim to mentor these young athletes in becoming resilient, well-rounded individuals. Just like in life, the game has its highs and lows, and learning to navigate both is an essential part of the journey.”
Coach Celia Rascon said “The State 48 FC 2013 / 2014 Girls Black (Avondale) team competed in ‘The Derby’ Tournament this past weekend. Although we lost our first match, the girls came back Sunday with heart to record two draws, 0-0 and 1-1. So proud of these girls for overcoming their rough start to the tournament, finishing strong and holding their own on the field – great job by the team!”
Congratulations to all our State 48 FC players and coaches – we are very proud of you!
One Family, One Mission!
