Coach Alessio Altomare said “Playing in the top bracket, the State 48 FC 2016 Elite team won the Patriots Cup Tournament Championship! This team, which remains undefeated, has played three tournaments and won three championships – our strong performance so far this season has earned the team the #2 ranking in the state of Arizona. A great showing by our central midfielder Joshua Madrigal – perfect ball distribution, excellent transition and a few goals from distance. I want to thank the club for supporting this program. Coach is proud!”
Coach Rogelio Aragon said “The State 48 FC 2017 Boys White (Avondale) team had an excellent Patriots Cup Tournament, playing up a year in the U10 Bracket. We went undefeated once again, recording 7-1 and 8-0 wins alongside a 4-4 draw (with an impressive +14 goal differential) to finish as runners-up. Gyzer Aragon was tremendous, scoring 11 goals in 3 games and being a leader through his control of the midfield. Ezra Sanchez and Jhovanny Soledad added 2 goals each, while AJ Cordova, Johan Gallardo, Kai Gonzalez and Nathan Palafox-Nagy each added one. Yael Zarco played very well, as did our outstanding goalkeeper, Moy Perez. The team chemistry, passing, spacing, vision and communication were truly remarkable to see – a total team effort!”
The State 48 FC 2007 / 2008 Boys Black (North) team played in the Patriots Cup Tournament and finished as runners-up (on goal difference). Playing in the highest bracket, the team performed very well, going undefeated in the tournament with two victories and a draw. Danny Castillo led the way with 3 goals, while Jacob Van Buskirk, Antonio Rocque and Tristan Costanzo each scored excellent goals. Team captain Jace Barlow was again outstanding, leading the team with his tenacity and indefatigable effort all over the field.
Coach Rogelio Aragon said “The State 48 FC 2013 Black (Avondale) team had a great run in the Patriots Cup Tournament, playing in the Gold Bracket against top competition. We finished in 3rd Place in the competition – the team played with great chemistry and toughness throughout the whole tournament. Overall, it was a complete team effort. I am proud of the growth we have seen with this group in such a short time.”
Coach Brian Craig reported “The State 48 FC 2013 / 2014 Girls Black (Verrado) team ended league play with a hard fought 2-2 draw over the weekend. We scored early with a fine free kick outside the box by Amelia Craig. Just a few minutes later Payton Briese made a great supporting run from her center back position to score our second goal. Starting the second half at 2-2, we battled to keep the game scoreless with Amelia Craig filling in at goalkeeper and our back four playing smart and physical defense. We finished the season in the top three in our division – very impressed by this group of players!”
The State 48 FC 2011 Boys Black (Avondale) team played two league matches this weekend, winning both contests to push them into 1st place. Coach Javier Frausto said “In the first match, the players asserted their dominance, winning by the scoreline of 6-1. Goals were scored by Gabriel Salazar, Jayden Rosales, Scott Nguyen, Acxel Romero and Andres Rodriguez. In the second match, the boys were primed and hitting on all cylinders, thwarting all shot attempts while attacking from every angle on the pitch. Their excellent efforts earned them a convincing 4-0 victory. Our goal scorers were Caiden Sanchez, Gabriel Salazar, Victor Sandoval and Andres Rodriguez. 10 goals scored by seven different players this weekend continues the trend of unselfish play – we have multiple scoring threats throughout the team. The team has the fewest goals allowed (1) and the most goals scored (26), all while playing less games than the next two teams in the standings. I am very proud of this group!”
Congratulations to all our State 48 FC players and coaches – we are very proud of you!
One Family, One Mission!
