We struggled at times and faced adversity, but never backed down – instead, we pushed harder. We have worked diligently every day in training and are proud of everyone, because they all played a part in this fantastic performance! The State 48 FC 2015 Girls Black (Avondale) team won the Christmas Angel Tournament Championship! Coach Ivan Moreno said “Back to back – winning our second tournament in a row. These girls are growing, grinding, and getting better every single day. Proud is an understatement! Very well done!”
Coach Chris Chavez said “The State 48 FC 2016 Boys Copper (Avondale) team went undefeated in the Christmas Angel Tournament this past weekend in winning the Tournament Championship! Saturday’s matches were challenging, but, by Sunday, the boys showed remarkable resolve, playing with intensity and a determined drive to win. The entire squad demonstrated outstanding resilience, and goals came from almost every player on the team. Goalkeeper, Santi “Jorge Campos” Chavez delivered exceptional performances that kept us competitive in every match. I am very proud to coach for a club like State 48 FC that develops its own players – the opportunity to advance cohesion, face adversity together and come together as a unified group are intrinsic areas that define meaningful growth in youth soccer.”
Coach Anthony Sagahun said “The State 48 FC 2018 White (Verrado) team won the Christmas Angel Tournament Championship this past weekend. I am pleased to report that the entire squad was outstanding! We dominated with our precision passing, our excellent ball mastery skills and were supremely confident defensively. We swept through all three of our opponents, scoring 18 goals while only giving up only 1 goal. Midfield maestro Lionel Macias recorded 6 assists and 3 goals; Nicholas Kenney scored 2 goals, while team Captain Goliath Herrera locked it down on defense and scored 2 goals as well. The players made me a very proud coach!”
Coach Heber Valenzuela said “State 48 FC 2018 (North) team participated in the Christmas Angel Tournament displaying grit, teamwork and fair play. Shoutout to Marcos David and Madhi Boujaou for adding creativity to the midfield; Damien Mendiola and Jesus Espinoza for their tenacious defense; and Mason Delgadillo and Milo Valenzuela for their strong play in the attack. I am very proud of this group!”
Coach Armando Juarez said “Our State 48 FC 2019 (North) team had a great Christmas Angel Tournament, winning two games. Our team keeps growing and getting better each week – very pleased with the way this team is developing.”
The State 48 FC 2017 Girls Black Avondale) team took part in the Christmas Angel Tournament this past weekend. Coach Mya Crowley said “The girls were absolutely amazing! In the first match, our midfielders were moving the ball very well and scored 5 goals, winning the game by a 5-1 scoreline. In the second game, our midfielders and forwards were making consistently dangerous runs toward goal – we won the game 4-1. Every single player worked as hard as they could as we continue to have fun and make lasting memories!”
Coach Nery Valiente said “What an incredible weekend for our State 48 FC 2016 Boys Teal (Avondale) team at the Christmas Angel Tournament! Through tough challenges and strong opponents, the boys showed grit, heart and nonstop effort. Our attack was led by Landon Pham, who scored 5 goals; Gabriel Valiente scored 2 goals and recorded 4 assists; Jacob Kelly had 3 goals, while Dylan Santos and King Jackson scored 1 goal apiece. Jacob Kelly was fabulous in the midfield, keeping the possession flowing and supporting both sides of the field. Damian Palacios stepped up too, battling hard and helping drive the ball forward when needed. On defense, Mateo Valentin, Preston Pham and King Jackson held the line with toughness, while goalkeeper Raymond Villareal came through with clutch saves in big moments. This group earned their well-deserved 3rd place finish with pride and continues to grow stronger every tournament.
Coach Rogelio Aragon said “The State 48 FC 2017 White Avondale) team had a great Christmas Angel Tournament performance – undefeated in our bracket while posting an impressive +17 goal differential with two shutout victories. We finished in 2nd Place having played some great soccer during the weekend – this is our 4th tournament final. We had balanced scoring throughout the weekend as seven different players scored goals. Gyzer Aragon was outstanding in the attack, recording 7 goals; Johan Gallardo (3 goals), Ezra Sanchez (3 goals) and Kai Gonzalez (2 goals) were great as well. Goalkeeper Moy Perez had an excellent showing as well, making a number of great saves. The entire team was fantastic!”
Coach Jaime Loya said “Our State 48 FC 2014 / 2015 Black (Casa Grande) team played in the Christmas Angel Tournament. The team continues to improve with every match. I am very excited for the development of this fine group of players – they showed determination, commitment and belief in every game.”
Coach Brian Craig said “The State 48 FC 2013 / 2014 Girls Black (Verrado) team competed in the Christmas Angels Tourney this past weekend, finishing in 3rd Place. We played a patient style of soccer, working on our buildouts and increasing our time of possession with each game. We experimented with moving our faster players into the striker roles and shifting our size and muscle around in the back; it worked well and the girls found their footing right away. This group continues to be cohesive and creative in their game play. Standout performance from Payton Briese moving up from center back to play the attacking midfielder position – she brought intensity and started many penetrating attacks for us. Great performance from the entire team!”
Coach Rudy Urquiza said “The State 48 FC 2016 White (Avondale) team went undefeated all the way to the finals of the Christmas Angel Tournament. The team as a unit were brilliant, finishing in 2nd Place. I was very impressed with our defensive work as a team, conceding only 5 goals in this competition. I couldn’t be prouder of these kids and their tremendous effort!”
The State 48 FC 2016 Gray (Avondale) team took part in the Christmas Angel Tournament. Coach Hector Roman said “We completely dominated the majority of the games in the bracket, and missed out on going to the finals by only one point. I am very pleased how the boys adapted to the new challenge of playing 9v9 and cannot wait to see how we perform in our next tournament!”
Coach Donovan Graydon said “The State 48 FC 2015 / 2016 Boys Black (Laveen) team made its tournament debut this past weekend in the Christmas Angels Tournament. Despite not making the final, the boys played extremely well throughout the tournament. Impressive defensive performances by Elijah Dominguez and Angel de la Rosa, while Adrian Botello and Alonzo Zamora were excellent in the attack. Rayan Boare was everywhere on the field, and Jacob Bolanos did a great job in goal. Super proud of this group of players as they gave it their all and improved a lot in this tournament.”
Coach Cisco Flores said “The State 48 FC Verrado 2013 Boys Black (Verrado) team played in the Christmas Angel Tournament. I was very happy with the effort from the group. We had an outstanding 2-1 victory against a strong opponent in our third match, playing well and keeping possession for most of the game. Our Tournament MVP’s were defender Chris “Rincito” Martinez and goalkeeper Ricardo Ramirez, who were both outstanding. Noteworthy performances from Carlos Abarca and Tony “Ramitos” Gil as well. I am very proud of my kids – vamos Verrado!”
