State 48 FC Weekly Update – Week 5

Coach Cisco Flores said “The State 48 FC 2013 Boys Black Verrado team had a great weekend, playing for the first time in the Silver Bracket and winning the CCV Tournament Championship. Victories by scores of 1-0 and 7-0 in bracket play and a 2-1 win in the final. Overall, our team has demonstrated great development – super proud of my boys. Excellent performance from everyone – puro State 48 FC!”

Coach Oscar Macias said “The State 48 FC 2018 Black (Verrado) team competed in the CCV Tournament over the weekend, winning the Tournament Championship in dominating fashion! Individually each player is demonstrating comfort, composure and confidence out there. It has been a joy watching them grow and continue to ball out. Good job baby champs!”

The State 48 FC 2013 / 2014 Girls Black (Avondale) team kicked off the first league game of the 2026 season by securing a 4-1 victory. Coach Celia Rascon said “The girls showed an incredible display of strength, confidence, and determination. The hard work they’ve put in as individuals over the off-season was on full display as they have transitioned seamlessly into a unified team. The defense was excellent, anchored by Captain Mia Aguilar, whose leadership ensured that the backline remained balanced and communicative throughout the match. On the offensive side, we saw clinical finishing from Sofía Tena and Elsie Rascon, supported by a key assist from Adela Hernandez. Perhaps most impressive was the team’s ‘heart and hustle’ – this is just the beginning, and we are excited to keep pushing toward our goals!”

Coach Rogelio Aragon said “The State 48 FC 2017 White (Avondale) team were truly impressive Saturday in their semi-final game in the AZ Academy League, where we registered a great 7-0 shutout win. It was fun to watch their confidence with the ball, their intensity, their teamwork and most of all their decision making. Aaron Villagomez played an outstanding game, getting his first Hat Trick of the season in extraordinary fashion! We are very proud of the team’s growth and continued hard work. Let’s keep working!”

Coach Brian Craig said “The State 48 FC 2013 / 2014 Girls Black (Verrado) team started the new league season (having been promoted up a division) with a decisive 2-0 win. Our strong defensive foundation along with our patient build-up play has been improving steadily. The girls looked sharp after the holiday break and there’s commitment to the patience and beauty of possession-based soccer. Stand out performance from Jordyn Cheatham for not only creating opportunities with her speed and fearlessness, but also her willingness to support the defense and stop counter-attacks!”

Coach Heber Valenzuela said “The State 48 FC 2018 Black (North) team had a great weekend in the Arizona Academy League. First by winning their 4v4 semifinal 3-0 on Friday, and second by securing their first 7v7 final while playing up a year in the 2017 Silver Bracket on Saturday! Special shoutouts to Damien Mendiola for playing great defense; Jesus Espinoza and Marco Rojas for scoring decisive goals; Marcos David Ochoa for his midfield creativity; and Milo Valenzuela and John Erick Rosero for their ability to link the midfield with the attack. Great job from the entire group!”

Coach Irwin Moreno said “The State 48 FC 2017 Black (Avondale) team played an intense Arizona Academy League semi-final over the weekend. Every player grinded it out and competed to the very end, earning themselves a spot in the championship after a hard fought 2-1 victory. Bennett Craig held it down between the goal posts while Emilio Garcia Flores and Nicholas Guevara were tremendous on the defensive end. Our goal scorers were Adrian Gutierrez and Sebastian Tounzit, but every single player contributed in one way, shape or form. Great win!”

Coach Moises Perez said “The state 48 FC 2015 Copper (Avondale) team played its first league game for season 2 against a strong opponent. Although the team was a bit rusty from the winter break, their knowledge of soccer showed up at the right time. Proud that the team displayed good passing and technical skills but, most importantly, they showed great teamwork! Max Aguero opened the scoring, followed by Kevin Solis, and, to close the victory, AJ Navas to cement the 3-1 win!”

Coach Hector Garcia said “The State 48 FC 2013 Boys Copper (Avondale) team made their debut in Division 1 and faced a very tough opponent. The boys came out sharp and confident in earning an impressive 5–0 victory as we dominated the game from start to finish. Daniel Gonzalez scored the goal of the match with a spectacular finish off a free kick that was delivered by Ismael Alcala. The ‘Player of the Match’ was Casey Ban, whose performance stood out on a day where everyone performed at a high level.”

Coach Rogelio Aragon said “The State 48 FC 2013 Black (Avondale) team opened the 2026 league season with a decisive 8-2 victory. The team started a bit slow, which caused us to go down 0-1 early in the game, but then soon picked it up and got into rhythm as we took control of the game. Great goals by Ricardo Lemus, Alex Trejo, & Carlos Medina. Overall great team chemistry – let’s keep working!”

Congratulations to all our State 48 FC players and coaches – we are very proud of you! One Family, One Mission!
