State 48 FC Weekly Update – 10/10

The State 48 FC 2008 – 2009 Girls Black team ended their league play with a 2-1 win and an impressive overall record of 4 wins and 1 loss. They scored 19 goals while conceding only 3, with Coach John Brooker record of 4-1 mentioning that goalkeeper Kaylynn Swaney was instrumental in all the matches with her fine play. The backline was anchored by Cecilia Sanchez, Tori Wefel-Hayes and Jazmin Tafolla, while wing backs Saira Vidrio and Faith Lohn were part of that outstanding defense as well. The midfield play of Emily Hinojos (5 goals), Jazmin López and Sarah Eversole was key to the team’s success with their effective transitional play and technical control. Strikers Amira Dunn (7 goals), Marisa Rubalcava (3 goals), Bryanna Carranza and Meggie Girard played important roles in the team’s success. Ashlynn Southard, Roselin Perez, Michelle Jeter, Lillyanna Ceballos and Danika Mesquita also made significant contributions. The State 48 FC 2008 Boys Black (North) performed at a high level at the Scottsdale Cup Tournament showcase, finishing in 3rd place. The excellent defense, led by Jace Barlow, Sergio Arpino, Trey Gonzalez, Dominic Bartinelli, Billy Denman and Ethan Crabtree allowed only two shots on goal all weekend. The team scored an impressive 13 goals in three matches (while conceding only 1), led by Trevor Scriven (4 goals, (Mark de Leon (4 goals), Diego Armetta (3 goals), Jace Barlow (1 goal) and Kaiden Borunda (1 goal). Congratulations to all of our State 48 FC teams and players!
