State 48 FC Weekly Update – 10/25

Coach Francisco Martinez said that the State 48 FC 2006 Girls Black (Verrado) team “did an amazing job” in a tremendous 4-1 victory over the weekend. Sabella Vargas had 2 goals, while Diane Williams and Nadynne Rivera had 1 goal each. Selene Martinez had 3 assists while goalkeeper Aydelin Morales made some incredible saves, including stopping three 1v1 opportunities. The State 48 FC 2008 Boys Black (North) team played three league games, winning all three and solidifying their position at the top of the State League with five wins in five matches. The team scored an impressive 15 goals in the three games while conceding only twice. Junior de la Rosa (5 Goals), Trevor Scriven (3 goals), Chris Simon (3 goals), Mark de Leon (2 goals), Diego Armetta (1 goal) and Tavin Tomlinson (1 goal) provided the goal scoring, with Armetta, de la Rosa and Scriven recording multiple assists as well. The outstanding defense was led by the league’s best defender, Jace Barlow, with fine performances from Billy Denman, Dominic Bartinelli, Sergio Arpino, Trey Gonzalez, Adythia Asokan and Etah Crabtree. ‘Man of the Match’ performances went to Tavin Tomlinson in the first match, Junior de la Rosa in the second match and Trevor Scriven in the third match. The State 48 FC 2012 Boys Black team turned in two strong performances, recording a win and a draw. Ricky de la Rosa scored a long range free kick goal to earn the draw in the final moments of the close match. Coach Matt Marek said that his State 48 FC 2008 Boys Black team, playing in the Advanced League, had an excellent result on Sunday, drawing 1-1 with the top team in the league despite being without a number of key players. The State 48 FC 2007 Boys Black team recorded a 3-2 win (with Rafa Castenon making a game saving slide tackle to preserve the victory) and a 2-2 draw in league play (goals were scored by Elias Curiel and Tramar Dobbins), with Coach Matt Marek especially impressed with the performance of the team in the tie against the team at the top of the table.
