State 48 FC Weekly Update 10/3

The State 48 FC 2015 / 2016 Black team finished as runners up for the Championship in the AYSO Tournament, losing out only on goal difference. Coach Alessio Altomare indicated that the team is developing nicely and making great progress. Jose Flores scored an impressive hat trick in the final match, with Wyatt Bridge adding another goal from the center back position. Goalkeeper James Kenney was also singled out for his tremendous performance in the tournament, with Coach Peter Larkin-Gero remarking that James is becoming “a formidable force” in goal. The State 48 FC 2013 Black team played very well over the weekend, finishing as Finalists in the AYSO Tournament. Coach Rogelio Aragon commented that the team played with great intensity and teamwork, turning in “an impressive performance that helped the team reach another level and showed that they can compete with the best”. Enzo Villafana (4 goals), Khristopher Aragon (2 goals, 2 assists), Donovan Siercke (2 goals) and Alexis Lugo (1 goal) took care of the scoring, while Liliana Rivera, Vincent Calderon, Sebastian Gutierrez and Angel Barajas were outstanding defensively with extraordinary goal keeping from Carlos Medina. Midfielders Adrian Guzman, Stanley Dovico, Joseph Vicario, Ayden Gomez, Eddie Gutierrez and Gustavo de la Torre were excellent as well. The State 48 FC 2007 Boys white team played to an exciting 3-3 draw, with Angel Pacheco scoring 2 goals and Chrsitopher Perez adding a great free kick goal as the team stayed undefeated in league play. The State 48 FC 2010 Boys Black team and Coach Teddy Ezekiel had an excellent result with a deserving 2-1 win as well. State 48 FC 2013 (Verrado) coach Aspyn Atwood reported that Molly Farrel, McKenzie Otting and Spencer Wimmer were all named “Student of the Month”, with Mabel Owen winning the “High Achiever” award – outstanding job in the classroom ladies! We are extremely proud of you! The State 48 FC 2006 Girls Black team (Verrado) goalkeeper Allison Rospierski won the U-16 / U-19 girls division Keeper Wars challenge and will be advancing to the National Tournament. Amazing job Allison – we will be rooting for you at Nationals! In other news, the State 48 FC Semi-Professional team, Sporting Arizona, advanced to the third round of the Lamar Hunt Open Cup with an impressive victory over the weekend. Well done Sporting Arizona – keep it going! Congratulations to all of our State 48 FC teams and players!
