State 48 FC Weekly Update – 2/1

The State 48 FC 2013 Black team had an exciting come from behind victory on Saturday, winning 2-1. Gavin Comer scored the tying goal at the beginning of the second half & Khristopher Aragon got the winning goal in the last minutes of the game. Excellent offensive pressure was applied by Gustavo De La Torre, Alex Trejo, Enzo Villafana & Alexis Lugo throughout the match, while the midfield was controlled by Adrian Guzman, Stanley Dovico & Donovan Siercke. Great defensive presence by Sebastian Gutierrez, Liliana Rivera & Angel Barajas, with outstanding goalkeeping by Carlos Medina. Coach Rogelio Aragon commented “we showed a lot of grit & determination, and, once we made some adjustments, we got the result we were looking for.”

The State 48 FC 2012 / 2013 Girls Black team played a great game over the weekend, winning 8-3 in a dominating performance. Yulitza Muñoz made her debut at the striker position and scored an impressive hat trick of goals, while Ailynn Salazar Barriga scored two goals and forced the own goal that started the game. Jaslyn Castillo played extremely well in midfield both defensively and on the attack, and also scored a nice goal. Aliah Barriga Niebla played a phenomenal game on the flank as she was very aggressive, winning every ball on her side of the field, and she capped off her performance by scoring her first goal of the season! Brook Giesker was outstanding as well as she helped set up many opportunities for her teammates to score. Coach Donovan Graydon remarked that it was “a great team performance as all the girls played at a high level and made sure we got the win.”


We would also like to recognize some impressive State 48 FC student / athletes for their academic honors, and they are: State 48 FC 2015 / 2016 Boys Black (Verrado) player Enzo Altomare received the ‘Student of the Month’ award for his responsible character, who “always doing his best, using self-control and being accountable for his choices”;
State 48 FC 2012 / 2013 Girls Black team player Aliah Barriga Niebla received the Perfect Attendance and Honor Roll awards at her school; State 48 FC 2013 Black player Stanley Dovico received the ‘Leader of the Month’ Award for his outstanding work ethic on and off the field, and his teammate Ayden Gomez was named to the Honor Roll for his academic excellence! Congratulations to all of you – we are all very proud of everyone!
