Coach Alessio Altomare remarked “All the players delivered –  Zayden Fultz (2 goals) and Enzo Altomare (3 goals) were unstoppable on the wings, while Giancarlo Nageia and Adrian Leyva gave us the extra boost when needed. Connor Candelario won countless duels, while Joshua Madrigal (2 goals) played beautiful soccer as the central midfielder. Dominic Johnson’s  (3 goals) counter attacks were amazing to watch for speed and quality of dribbling. Luis Diaz and Wyatt Bridge built a wall in the back alongside our GK James Kenney, who allowed only 6 goals in 4 games!” This is the 3rd tournament championship of the season for this fantastic team after winning the Rush Cup and the CCV Champions Cup.

The State 48 FC 2012 / 2013 Girls team also competed in the AZFC Select Invitational Tournament, and they were rewarded for their hard work with a fine 3rd Place finish. Coach Rogelio Aragon reports that “the team played an excellent game, with precise passing, great spacing and intelligent combination play. Enzo Villafana scored 3 goals – all great finishes. Donovan Siercke had an amazing game, covering a lot of ground and scoring a powerful goal to seal the win. Khristopher Aragon & Alex Trejo attacked relentlessly throughout the match by putting shots on goal & putting pressure on the goalkeeper. The midfield was controlled by Adrian Guzman, who made a number of key interceptions in addition to distributing the ball effectively. Our defensive presence, led by Liliana Rivera & Vincente Calderon, was outstanding, forcing numerous turnovers and creating counter attacks on the offensive end. Amazing goalkeeping from Angel Barajas, who showed out with some great saves throughout the entire game.”
