State 48 FC Weekly Update – 3/14

The State 48 FC 2008 Boys Black (North) team concluded their league season with an imposing 4-0 victory on Saturday. The team took the ASA State League championship by winning all of their matches in decisive fashion. Diego Armetta scored an impressive hat trick of goals, while Gavin Volckmann added another with a wonderful dribbling run that started at midfield. The powerful midfield play of Armetta, Volckmann, Trevor Scriven, Junior de la Rosa and Tavin Tomlinson was tremendous, controlling the tempo of the match with their skill, vision and work rate. The defense was outstanding – the back line of Jace ‘The Sheik’ Barlow, Sergio Arpino, Ethan Crabtree, Dominic Bartinelli, Billy Denman and Trey Gonzales dominated the match with their stellar performance. Goalkeeper Joseph Murillo kept a clean sheet again with his fine play, while strong contributions from Adithya Asokan, Nanda Ankem and Kaiden Zic played a big part in the team’s excellent display as well.

The State 48 FC 2013 Black team finished their league season in impressive fashion as well, going undefeated in ASA State League play as they recorded two wins and a draw over the weekend against strong competition. Coach Rogelio Aragon said “The passing, vision and execution displayed by the team was beautiful to watch! The attack was led by Alex Trejo (2 goals), Khristopher Aragon (2 goals), while Gavin Comer, Alex Trejo & Enzo Villafana each scored a goal as well. Outstanding leadership and midfield play from Adrian Guzman and Joseph Vicario was instrumental in the team’s excellent showing. A commanding defensive effort from Sebastian Gutierrez, Liliana Rivera & Vincent Calderón, with exceptional goalkeeping by Angel Barajas, who made some amazing saves (and blocked a penalty at a key point in the game). A truly outstanding performance from this amazing group!”

The State 48 FC 2015 / 2016 Boys Black (Verrado) team played four league games this past weekend. Coach Alessio Altomare remarked: “Overall it was a series of great performances. We came home with four wins in four matches, with the opposing team’s coaches complimenting our team for their good passing patterns. We were led by the outstanding play of central midfielder Joshua Madrigal, who delivered numerous assists and scored 4 goals – but, most importantly, was a great inspiration in raising the level of play of the rest of the team.”

The State 48 FC 2016 Black team played entertaining, attacking soccer over the weekend, playing two games and winning both in dominating fashion (by the scoreline of 11-3 & 6-1, respectively). Coach Ivan Moreno stated: “Seven out of our eight rostered players scored, with Guillermo Armenta and Javi Oropeza scoring 5 goals each between the two games – we are very proud of this excellent team!”

The State 48 FC Boys Black team ended their APL season with a superb 3-0 win. Coach Matt Marek said “It was a great performance defensively by the entire team. Victor de la Rosa began the scoring with a 30 yard strike. The second goal came from a fine through ball from Ryan Beck to Giovanni Chaparro, who deftly chipped the goalkeeper. Finally, the last goal was scored when Sergio Gutierrez beat four opponents, then played a ball to Yurem Bautista, who scored after a fine solo run.”

Coach Moises Perez said of his State 48 FC 2015 Copper team “We played four league games over the weekend, winning three and losing one. The team looked quite good and was able to compete well in these close games, always fighting like warriors until the final whistle!” Congratulations to our entire group of State 48 FC teams and coaches – we are very proud of you!
