State 48 FC teams were busy this past weekend with league play all around the state. Coach Ivan Moreno and the State 48 2016 Black team had an amazing weekend, picking up the 2nd Place trophy in Liga West. Additionally, they won both of their Academy League matches by the scores of 8-1 and 3-1; Coach Ivan said that every player on the team had a tremendous performance. Coaches Alessio Altomare and Peter Larkin-Gero reported that the State 48 FC 2015/2016 Verrado team were very good in two league matches (1 win and 1 loss). The coaches indicated that the overall effort and the amount of growth that the team showed was truly impressive. Noteworthy performances from Connor Candelario, Luis Diaz, James Kenney, Dominic Johnson, Zayden Fultz, Enzo Altomare, Juan Gutierrez and Lucas Adam highlighted the weekend. Coach Cory Stangle was very proud of the State 48 FC 2015 Boys Black team, who competed in an advanced level bracket in tournament play. The impressive Danny Stangle scored 4 goals and Sebastian Najera added a goal as well. Notable performances were also turned in by Angel de la Rosa, Christian “Willy” Salinas, Joel Morales Schooler and goalkeeper Jacob Bolanos, who made some amazing saves during the tournament. The State 48 FC 2008 Boys Black (North) team opened their Advanced League play with two convincing victories (5-1 & 4-1, respectively). The defense was led by the outstanding performances of Jace Barlow, Dominic Bartinelli, Sergio Arpino, Billy Denman, Ethan Crabtree and Trey Gonzalez. The goal scoring came from Mark de Leon (3 goals), Chris Simon (2 goals), Nanda Ankem (2 goals), Diego Armetta and Kaiden Zic. Trevor Scriven and Junior De la Rosa dominated the midfield with their grit, technical excellence and field vision, with Adythia Asokan and Gavin Volckmann turning in fine performances as well.
